He is known as the power behind the throne of the world's largest oil exporter. The prince full name is Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on August 31, 1985. He is the son of the current head of state King Salman and his third wife Fahda bint Falah bin Sultan bin Hathleen.

French officials dismiss any notion that the absence of huge contracts reflects any weakening in the relationship, saying they seek a new method of working with Saudi Arabia.
But analysts note the prince has emphasised closer ties with Donald Trump just at a time when Macron has sought to improve relations with Iran and promised to keep the nuclear deal.
Arab diplomats and several westerns describe the November exchange as tense. According to three officials, the meeting was dominated by Mohammed bin Salman threatening to restrain relations with France if Macron did not turn his desire to dialogue with Iran, Riyadh's regional rival, and push the business interests.
"While Macron recognises the reforming aspirations, he sees that MBS could be a real loose cannon and what he is doing in Yemen and Qatar and the talk on Iran has potential to add fuel to regional fire." FRENCH DIPLOMAT
Macron, the officials said, reminded Mohammed bin Salman of France's position in the world as a nuclear power, permanent member of the Security Council and that France was free to do what it wanted. (/dio)
